The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones

I have been following the Press Tour of Mortal Instruments like it’s my job. You’re probably well aware by now that I love every single person in this movie’s cast, and so I was so excited to see all the interviews and outfits they would be wearing. I have been so pleased, Lily Collins has been dressed so immaculately and all the interviews have been so hilarious and lovely seeing the cast interact (except for Jonathan Rhys Meyers - where the hell was he?).

I saw the movie over  two weeks ago, the day after it came out. I would have seen it the day before, but unfortunately I had a lot of university work to finish, however there was no way I wasn’t going to see it opening weekend.

Firstly, I want to say that I had very high expectations for this movie, and they were met. They weren’t, however, exceeded. It was exactly what I expected from this type of genre movie: funny, a little bit cheesy at times and enough action that I didn’t get bored. Secondly, you don't have to have read the books before you go. I do recommend them if you liked reading Divergent, Twilight, just YA Fiction in general really, but it's not a necessity. 

In regards to the cast I think everyone was picked perfectly. Jaime Campbell Bower was exactly how I pictured Jace when I was reading the series. I knew that Robert Sheehan had been cast as Simon, so that was just how I pictured him the whole time too and it fit the character so well. Jonathan Rhys Meyers was an amazing Valentine, I adore that he was cast because I absolutely love him so much and I feel like I don’t see him enough.

If you haven’t seen it yet, definitely check it out. In Australia it was number one at the Box Office on it’s opening weekend. If you want see a sequel, definitely see it at the movies because it all counts and they won’t make it unless there are the numbers to back it up.

Overall I give it an seven out of ten, mainly because I really enjoyed it and it was a bit of lighthearted fun, especially if you've read the books. 

Week in Review #3

Hei hei!

This week has been my first week back at university, but it's actually been a pretty nice one and I'm still really in holiday mode because there isn't much uni work to do yet! The next three weeks are going to be so hectic though because I've offered to just take heaps more shifts at work (trying to think of the DVD's I can buy with the extra money!) and I know uni work is just going to pile up like crazy. Anyway, because it's Sunday night, I've written a post to finish off the week about all about the things I've been loving for the past seven days:

(Loved) Reading: I've been reading a few more things online lately rather than reading Mortal Instruments and that's because I got a new Macbook Air! I can't stop using it - I've been going to bed so late since I bought it because all I've wanted to do is use it. First off I love this article, which is all about the character Margaery Tyrell (from Game of Thrones) costuming in the series. I feel like it sums up every one of her costumes perfectly and it was such an enlightening read. Secondly I found this website which I have just been trawling through for hours on end. There is just so much information, statistics and graphs about Lord of the Rings I cannot believe it! 

(Loved) Films: I finally saw Man of Steel on Monday. I hadn't been able to see it due to the fact that I'd been traveling when it was released and I finally found the time to go earlier this week. I'm currently writing a full post about it, which should be up sometime in the coming week. Basically I loved it, and I knew I was going to love it. That's a pretty lame review, but seriously, there isn't much more to say than that. Go and see it if you haven't yet!

(Loved) Television: This week the only television I have been watching is Teen Wolf. I've just finished the first season and tonight I went straight on to the second one. My best friend is all up to date so I want to catch up as soon as possible so we can talk about it - I feel like there are going to be a lot of late nights this week! Also, last night I started re-watching Season One of Misfits, which had me laughing out loud in the first ten seconds. It's still just as funny as I remember it and it's so good seeing Nathan (Robert Sheehan) in it. I feel like the show started going downhill the minute he left (although I did like his replacement, Rudy, and I do think Season Three is one of my favourites). 

(Loved) Random: I am loving my new Macbook Air this week. I bought it on Wednesday and it is all I've been on since. I have actually wanted to do uni work this week just as an excuse to use my computer (I'm pretty sure that won't last very long!). Also, I'm up to level 41 on Candy Crush which was my Random love from a couple of weeks ago. I feel like it's getting harder and harder, but I'm kind of determined to get to at least Level 100.

Trailer Tuesday #2

The werewolves are here to save us

... never thought I'd say that.

I saw the trailer for this movie a very long time ago. I hadn't read any of the books yet but eagerly watched it because it included one of my all time favourite actors Robert Sheehan who I had fallen in love with in his role as Nathan in Misfits. Then I saw it also had Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Lena Headey . . . and Aiden Turner . . . and Kevin Zegers . . . and Jaime Campbell Bower . . . and I realised that this cast was pretty damn perfect. 

Now that I've read the book and am half way through the series this is one film that I am absolutely hanging out to see. The stuff from the cast at comic-con also didn't help, and I fell in love with the rest of the cast that I hadn't been very familiar with before. I will definitely be seeing this one on the day it comes out. Lucky it's not too far away now.

Mortal Instruments: City of Bones comes out in cinemas on August 22nd in Australia.

Week in Review #1

Hei hei guys,

Sorry I haven't posted in so long, but I've had an excuse: I've been in Europe for the past three weeks! I got back about a week ago, and I've been thinking over what I want to do with this blog. So I've come up with some new ideas that I hope you guys all enjoy! One of those things is this new "Week in Review" post, that hopefully will go up every Sunday and like the title states, just is a little space for me to tell you guys what I've been loving and watching during the week. So without further ado. . .

(Loved) Reading: I have started reading The Mortal Instruments series in anticipation for the movie coming out next month. I read the first one, City of Bones, in about two days and the plot twist, oh my goodness I'm still not over it and I'm now onto City of Glass, which is the third one. These books are a very easy read but are fast paced, funny and very addictive. Whenever I've finished one, my kindle recommends other stuff for me like Divergent and Beautiful Creatures, neither of which I have read, but  it's something to compare it to if you have

(Loved) Films: Since coming back from Europe I have seen one film, which I will be doing a post on later in the week. I did really like it, way more than I thought I would, and that was The Heat. Look out for my review, but what I will add into this little section here is that I have no stopped watching the second The Hunger Games: Catching Fire trailer since it came out yesterday. I am so looking forward to this movie it's not even funny. Plus, Finnick is in this trailer, I repeat, Finnick is in this trailer!

(Loved) Television: My friend I travelled with brought New Girl Season Two with her to watch on her ipad during our long travel periods. I have to admit here that I watched some random, middle of the second season episodes, without watching either season one, or the episodes in season two before these ones. I absolutely loved them! Why had I not watched these before? So I have come home to start season one, and totally out of character for me, I have restricted myself to watching one episode a night. That's how much I love it!

(Loved) Randomness: This past week I have been spending, spending, spending. And not on the usual stuff like dvd's and food. No, this week I've bought my ticket to Melbourne to watch Liverpool play Melbourne Victory, tickets to see Beyonce in early November (!!!!) and tickets to the Game of Thrones night in Sydney in mid-November. I am so excited for this, words cannot even describe. I am going to see George R.R. Martin and Peter Dinklage live and talking about the greatest books in the world.

(Loved) SDCC: This is a little extra that won't be in each week, but I have been absolutely loving all the stuff coming out from Comic-Con. All photos used in this post are from there, and I had to seriously cull down which ones I wanted to show you guys. I'm seriously considering going next year, but I think I would just be a bawling mess. I'm crying now just thinking about how amazing it would be.
